“At the heart of (adult) catechesis we find…the person of Jesus of Nazareth, and it is for this reason that the definitive aim of catechesis is to put people not only in touch but in communion, in intimacy, with Jesus Christ.”
OLS Adult Education, based on Saint Pope John Paul the Great’s view of adult catechesis, has a broad emphasis on intimacy with Jesus and a
concentration on “life in God,” a life given to us by Jesus Christ. Our Objective is “to put [us] in communion, in intimacy, with Jesus Christ.”
Each session includes an opening prayer, a keynote presentation, and a closing prayer. As a personal commitment, we pray aloud and in silence for the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with God’s love and ask Jesus Christ to teach us how to love Him more. We hear presentations from
knowledgeable, caring, interesting speakers on topics including the Scriptures, the writings of saints and theologians, church history, social issues and the Church, the New Evangelization, the Joy of the Gospel, and the call of Jesus to serve the needs of others.
Adult Education follows the Parish School of Religion (PSR) calendar. We begin on Sunday mornings at 9:45 a.m. with light refreshments.
